SSB Field Day Contest

We must have been barmy!!!!!

As usual, we participated in the annual RSGB SSB field day. We decided to enter the open section for a change, and make use of the 100 foot masts and the tri-bander.

The weather was terrible, but we stuck to it and got everything set up. Operating for the full contest, we managed 820 QSO's so not too bad for our first open entry. The bands were as usual up and down, but we did manage a couple of DX stations all the same. We learnt quite a bit from this contest, and the log breakdown will help us in the future.

Have a look in gallery section for more images.

WRAA are please to announce that all of the candidates from the Foundation course taken over the weekend 9th-10th August, where successfull. Well done to all of you, and we hope to be hearing you on the air with your new M6 calls very soon.

They must be gluttons for punishment, because two of them immediately signed up for our Intermediate course which starts in September. All candiates are as keen as mustard, which our instructors are always happy to see, all too often many critisise the level of commitment shown by some Foundation Licensee's, well, if you are reading this.....Not this bunch!

Also a special thank you to our instructors and helpers, as ever without you we couldn't run these courses.
