Back in the year dot, Worcester had its own Amateur Radio Club, it was successful and had many members. During those early days, just about anyone who was anyone knew of, or were members of the club and for many years together with other clubs in the area, an extremely successful rally was run. Some of you may remember the Rally when it was held at Droitwich High School.

To be honest, very little is known about the demise of the original club, there have been quite a few stories over the years, but only the original committee will know what really happened. Were you a member of the original club? We would love to hear from you.

So..... there were a hand full of people in Worcester who wanted to bring back an Amateur Radio Club to Worcester, hence this web site.

An open meeting was held in October 2006 to see if there was enough interest to start a club again. The response was great and over 25 people came along. That was that, and the WRAA was born.

As Worcester Radio Amateurs Association is just beginning, we are looking for members. Experience isn't important as help is always at hand, however we have found that experienced Amateurs are only too happy to help newcomers get to grips with the hobby and we strongly support"mentoring" for the younger members. So, if you are just thinking about Radio as a hobby or you have been a "Ham" for years, drop us an email and ask about membership today.

For those of you who are not yet licensed, but would like to join in this hobby, WRAA will be running courses for the various levels of license available. You don't have to be a Ham to be a member, maybe you have been a CB operator in the past, or a Short wave Listener, whatever your background we would love to have you as a member.

Still not sure? Then contact us and we can arrange for you to come along and see Amateur Radio for yourself. What better way to find out if it is the hobby for you?
