2009 WRAA - VMARS CAMP It was wet, windy and just a little muddy but we had fun all the same! Members began arriving on site at Breach Farm mid morning on the Friday, where it was obvious that we were going to need our wellies. The VMARS guys had already began setting up on the Thursday evening, so we well under way when we arrived on site. The first oder of the day was to make sure we had cover in case it rained, guess where the marquee was, right at the front of the trailer! After unloading pretty much everything and crossing our fingers it didn't rain, we set about erecting it, which was done in no time at all, ten minutes tops I would say. Off to our storage facility to collect the trailer masts and we were soon back on site ready to role, it was nice to be able to give our members somewhere to sit too! This was our 100 foot trailer tower's first outing, and happy in the knowledge that the re-wire was sound we set about getting it erected. I think our last minute change to 3mm diameter stainless steel wire rope for the guys was a good move; the forecast was for 50mph+ windspeeds. |

Seeking Hams in Worcester NY |
|

Seeking willing Hams, or Groups near to Worcester New York USA! Worcester Radio Amateurs Association has been contacted by a local Scout Group in Worcester England and they asked if we would assist with an idea. The group in question is the 1st Worcester Scout Group, and they have been in contact with Troop 168 based in Worcester New York USA, thus an idea was spawned, why not use Amateur Radio to make contact with each other, like a mini Jamboree on the air if you like. Everything seemed simple at the beginning, but it appears that isn’t always the case. The “Ham” team in Worcester UK is all set up and ready to go, the only problem is we have no one on the receiving end in Worcester NY! So we are seeking helpful Amateur Radio Groups, or individuals who can look after things at the NY end. If you are able to help, then please drop me a line so that we can arrange things and get this “Ham Radio Twinning” Idea off the ground. We know that there will be someone out there willing to assist, and I am sure that the true spirit of Ham Radio will prevail. Looking forward to a full email inbox Pete Badham G0WXJ Chairman Worcester Radio Amateurs Association e-mail:
